CLAIMED BY DEATH ON HIS LAFOURCHE SUGAR PLANTATION Ernest Roger, one of the most prominent sugar planters in Lafourche parish, passed away at his home, Greenwood Plantation, at 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Mr. Roger who was in his eighty-third year, is survived by a widow, Mrs. Ezilda Thosclair Roger, and six children, Thomas H., L. Elise Naquin- A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Thibodaux for Elise Roger Naquin, 83, a native and resident of Thibodaux, who died at 1 a.m. Oct. 29, 2000. Visitation will be from 6 until 9 p.m. tonight at Landry's Funeral Home in Thibodaux and 8 a.m. until funeral time at the church. Burial will be at St. John Cemetery in Thibodaux. She was the mother of Yvonne N. Tabor; mother-in-law of Abby Tabor Sr.; sister of Amedeo "A.J." and Joseph Roger, Mabel R. Panville, Regina R. McArthy, Odette R. Naquin, Rosa May Rousseau, Agnes R. Levron, Nora R. Billiot, Shirley R. Thomas and Cecile R. Breaux; grand-mother of Abby and Edmond Tabor and Jean T. Ledet; great-grandmother of Lauren Clare and Julie Elise Ledet; and grandmother-in-law of Larry Ledet. She was preceded in death by her husband Edmond Emile Naquin; parents, Amedeo and Laura Mire Roger; infant sons, Edmond, Harold and Harry Naquin; and sister, Elsie R. Tullier.
